Directions

DIRECTIONS:

The five themes of geography will be discussed nearly every week over the course of the year.  However, these five themes can be found in areas all around the world as we speakFor Tuesday (September 4th), you are to find a recent article (posted or published within the last month) and summarize it in a paragraph.  In the paragraph, you should include which theme of geography is most relevant in the article, and explain why you believe that theme is present in the article.  Like most things in life, there may not be one correct answer.  In fact, there may be multiple themes that are relevant in the article.  You need to identify one and summarize your reasoning.  Do this first!

Once you summarize your article, you must then respond to two other people's posts.  They must be two different people.  Explain which theme of geography you think is present in the article, and why.  Don't just say, "I agree that location is found in the article".  Explain your reasoning in your own words.  Again, disagreeing doesn't mean you are wrong; you may have a good argument as well.

**Be sure to include WHERE you got your article from (NY Times, Scholastic, Cedar Rapids Gazette, etc) and the TITLE of the article.

You will be graded not on whether you are wrong or right, but how you explain your reasoning.  Have fun with this - challenge your classmates' explanations!
